5. Legislative Grouping – Carnival, Mardi Gras
A. Ord. Cal. No. 34,348 by Councilmember Morrell. Brief: An Ordinance to amend and reordain sections 34-2, 34-3, 34-4, 34-6, 34-8, 34-14, 34-28, 34-48, 34-49, and 34-50 of the Code of the City of New Orleans to provide relative to the regulation of Mardi Gras parades; and otherwise to provide with respect thereto.
B. Amendment to Ord. Cal. No. 34,348 by Councilmember Morrell. Brief: An amendment to Ord. Cal. No. 34,348 to correct parade order, provide for the issuance of more than three parade permits each night if, in accordance with City Code section 34-5, a parade is rescheduled at the discretion of the mayor because of inclement weather, and limit the total number of not only marching bands, but also military bands, dance clubs, walking clubs, riding clubs, or dance troupes that may participate in a parade, and otherwise to provide with respect thereto.
C. Discussion and consideration of Motion No. M-23-375 by Councilmember Morrell. Brief: Establishing an advisory committee (Carnival Legislative Advisory Committee) to provide recommendations concerning legislative changes for the improvement of the Carnival parade season.
6. Discussion and consideration of Motion No. M-23-386 by Councilmember Thomas. Brief: Extending for the period of 120 days, the interim appointment of Sarah McLaughlin Porteous as Acting Director of the Department of Public Works.
