"Today marks an important milestone for the City of New Orleans and the dedicated men and women of the New Orleans Police Department," New Orleans District D City Councilman Eugene Green said. "The lifting of the consent decree reflects more than a decade of hard work, reform, and commitment to building a department that protects and serves all residents with fairness, dignity, and respect. The NOPD has become a national example of constitutional policing. One that balances enforcement with accountability, transparency, and community engagement."

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The City secured a landmark victory in Federal Court today. The Honorable Judge Zainey dismissed Airbnb’s lawsuit with prejudice for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted. The lawsuit alleged that the City’s 2023 short-term rental laws—creating non-commercial short-term rental permits—violated property owners’ constitutional rights. Additionally, the platform claimed the City’s regulations also violated the platform’s constitutional rights as well as federal laws.
