Councilmember Brossett Joins Wilcox Academy for 15th Anniversary Celebration and Groundbreaking Event

NEW ORLEANS - Councilmember Jared C. Brossett joined Rochelle Wilcox and Wilcox Academy staff, partnering agencies, and other community leaders today to commemorate 15 years of service and break ground on its new location in Central City.

 

To celebrate this impressive milestone, Wilcox Academy gave away dozens of backpacks full of school supplies to students for the upcoming school year and awarded a pair of $1,000 scholarships to two young men who attended the school when it first opened its doors in 2006.

Budget Chair Jared Brossett Issues Statement Regarding Mid-Year Budget Hearings in Response to Administration's Request to Postpone

NEW ORLEANS - City Council Budget Committee Chair Jared C. Brossett has released the following statement announcing that the Council will still hold its scheduled Mid-Year Budget Hearings:

"It is of the utmost importance that we remain transparent in all of our fiscal management decisions during this public health emergency and recovery. In order to assess the fiscal needs and possible limitations that are currently facing city agencies, the City Council is preparing to hold its first installment of Mid-Year Budget Hearings for the year 2021. To continue moving New Orleans forward, the Council needs the Mayor’s Administration to provide a clear understanding of how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the City's recovery efforts as well as the budget.

Councilmember Brossett Responds to Statement from Cantrell Administration Regarding Ongoing Sanitation Issues

NEW ORLEANS - District "D" Councilmember Jared Brossett has released the following statement in response to recent comments by the Cantrell Administration in regards to citywide trash collection issues:  

 

"My office receives several calls daily with complaints regarding trash pick-up, and I know we are not the only ones. Usually collected twice weekly; many of my constituents haven’t had their trash picked up in over a week, with some reporting almost two weeks since their last trash pick-up. This is entirely unacceptable, and as the problem grows, it is getting harder and harder to get back on schedule.
