Council President Jason Williams to Host Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon for Senior Citizens on Nov. 13th

NEW ORLEANS - Council President Jason Williams will be partnering with the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club to host the 2018 Thanksgiving luncheon for senior citizens tomorrow, Nov. 13th at 10 a.m. in the Roy E. Glapion Reception Hall in New Orleans. The free event attracts more than 250 seniors from across the city each year with great food, music, and fun.

NEW ORLEANS - Councilmembers Jason Williams and Jared Brossett, alongside Orleans Public Defenders and The Juror Project, are launching the Know Your Rights series this Friday, Oct. 19 with the United in Our Rights: Empowering Equality Forum. The event, which is taking place in conjunction with Dillard University's 12th Annual Housing, Health and Community Resources Fair, is free and open to the public.

The ACTL is an invitation-only fellowship of exceptional trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds from the United States and Canada. The College thoroughly investigates each nominee for admission and selects only those who have demonstrated the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality.  The College maintains and seeks to improve the standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice through education and public statements on important legal issues relating to its mission.

City Council Holds First Meeting of Smart and Sustainable Cities Committee

Today, the City Council convened its first Smart and Sustainable Cities Committee meeting chaired by Council President Jason Williams. The committee members are Council Vice President Helena Moreno, District "E" Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen, District "B" Councilmember Jay Banks and District "A" Councilmember Joe Giarrusso. The committee was joined today by Chief Information Officer for Mayor Cantrell, Kim Walker LaGrue.
