Councilmember Palmer Releases Annual Report to Reflect on Accomplishments During Second Year in Office

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer has released her annual report (May 2019 - May 2020), which provides a review of legislative achievements, new initiatives, and significant milestones throughout her district. The report highlights legislative accomplishments that have improved the lives of New Orleanians, such as overhauling the City's Short Term Rental program, updating laws to improve the safe operation of businesses selling alcohol, and clearing a 15-year blighted building in Algiers.

Council Approves Ordinance Authorizing Phase II Construction of the Algiers Levee Bicycle Trail

NEW ORLEANS - The Council approved Ordinance 32,954 authorizing the City of New Orleans to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority West (SLFPA-W), on behalf of the Algiers Levee District to provide the design and construction of a bicycle path on the crown of the Mississippi River Levee in Algiers.

NEW ORLEANSDistrict "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will introduce a resolution (R-20-134) at the regular meeting on Thursday, May 21, encouraging Mayor LaToya Cantrell to design and implement a parklet program for restaurants and businesses located along commercial streets. Parklets are defined as a small seating area or green space created in front of a business alongside a sidewalk or within a parking space(s).

Councilmembers Palmer and Banks to Introduce Resolution Supporting Halting Development of the Convention Center Hotel, Entertainment District and Capital Improvement Plan

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer and District "B" Councilmember Jay H. Banks will introduce a resolution at the next regular meeting on Thursday, May 7, 2020, supporting the Ernest N. Morial Exhibition Hall Authority's decision to pause development of its proposed hotel, entertainment district and capital improvement plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. The resolution urges the Ernest N. Morial Exhibition Hall Authority, which serves as the governing board of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, to consider utilizing its surplus taxpayer reserve fund to support the City's hospitality and tourism industry.

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer applauds the Algiers Blight Committee and the City's Department of Code Enforcement for the clean up of two blighted properties in Algiers. The Algiers Blight Committee, which is made up of neighborhood volunteers and members of Code Enforcement, was created by Councilmember Palmer shortly after taking office in 2018.
