NEW ORLEANS - The City of New Orleans and JOB1 NOLA are hosting a series of Neighborhood Job Fairs in December 2021 beginning Monday, December 6 through Thursday, December 16. Councilmember Jay H. Banks is encouraging all residents looking for new career opportunities to attend to get connected with employers.

NEW ORLEANS - During the regular meeting this Thursday, November 18, Zoning Docket 71/21, which requests amendments to the conditional use ordinance for the Orleans Justice Center to permit the phase III expansion, appeared on the Council agenda for the first time.

Council Waives Certain Building and Demolition Permit Fees Following Hurricane Ida

NEW ORLEANS - During today's Regular Council meeting, the Council passed Ordinance 33,459, which waives certain fees relating to building permits and demolition permits necessary to repair or rebuild structures damaged by Hurricane Ida and occupied on August 29, 2021, except where renovation or new construction was in progress. This allows residents to start the rebuilding process as expeditiously as possible.

Councilmember Banks Approves Two Land Use Motions Focusing on Green Infrastructure and Affordable Homeownership Opportunities

NEW ORLEANS - During today's City Council meeting, District “B” Councilmember Jay H. Banks approved two land use motions that represent significant steps in the right direction toward green infrastructure and affordable homeownership. Zoning Docket 26/21 is the first to require electric vehicle charging stations for a gas station in Mid-City, and the development at 1721 St. Andrew Street in Central City (Zoning Docket 53/21) is a building block that will lead to future affordable homeownership opportunities.
