Councilmember Jay H. Banks Kicks Off the Second Annual Catch Basin Challenge

NEW ORLEANS - In October of 2018, District "B" Councilmember Jay H. Banks kicked off the Catch Basin Challenge to engage both City employees and residents to work together and clean the front of catch basins in an interactive way. He began the challenge by nominating his fellow six Councilmembers to clean catch basins in their neighborhoods. Each Councilmember participated and nominated other State officials, neighbors, and friends to join in the challenge. Following last year's success. Councilmember Banks is excited to kick-off the challenge again for 2019.

Councilmember Jay H. Banks Appointed to Serve on National League of Cities' Human Development Committee

NEW ORLEANS - District "B" Councilmember Jay H. Banks has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2019 Human Development (HD) federal advocacy committee. This committee is responsible for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving social services, children and learning, poverty and income support, employment and workforce development, equal opportunity, Social Security and seniors, individuals with disabilities, public health care, mental health parity and immigration reform.

NEW ORLEANS - Utilities Committee Chair Helena Moreno, Council Sewerage and Water Board (S&WB) Appointee Jay H. Banks, and Public Works Committee Chair Joe Giarrusso have issued the following statement regarding Entergy and the New Orleans Power Station (NOPS):

"Since taking office last May, this Council has relentlessly fought on behalf of Entergy New Orleans and Sewerage Water Board (S&WB) customers. We continue to review all aspects of service and business practices by S&WB and Entergy to determine how they can better serve New Orleanians.
