City Council Directs City Planning Commission to Study Revitalization of Important Historic Canal Street Corridor

At today's regular meeting, Council President Jason Williams introduced and the Council unanimously approved M-18-200 directing the City Planning Commission (CPC) to engage in an in-depth study on initiatives to revitalize Canal Street. The study will present findings on why previous recommendations were not able to be implemented and will identify ways to incentivize the use of upper floors on buildings along Canal Street that have remained vacant for years.

Councilmember Helena Moreno to Introduce Comprehensive Sexual Harassment Ordinance for City Government

This morning, Councilmember At-Large Helena Moreno formally filed notice that she will introduce an ordinance at the May 24th New Orleans City Council Meeting to establish and codify New Orleans' first legal guidelines to prevent sexual harassment and properly train City government officials and employees to avoid, identify, and punish harassment wherever it may be found within the City's charter-ruled agencies.
