NEW ORLEANS – During its regular meeting today, the Council approved several ordinances, including ordinance No. 35, 158, authorizing a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, and Algiers Development District to support public recreation through NORD’s aquatic programming. The Council also approved motion M-25-396 to hold a public hearing to establish the Fairground Overlay District, which limits permitted uses on the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots site in Gentilly. Several additional ordinances and resolutions of public interest were also approved during the meeting.

NEW ORLEANS - On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the Transportation Committee held a meeting where key representatives from transportation services provided updates on various projects throughout the city. The Committee received updates on multiple projects from the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), including an update on passenger rail service between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, as well as a presentation on Bike Easy’s Safer St. Claude Campaign and the Daylighting Campaign.

NEW ORLEANS - On Monday, July 21, 2025, the Utility and Public Works Committees held a meeting where members received multiple presentations on hurricane season preparedness. This presentation was conducted by representatives from the Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP), Entergy New Orleans (ENO), Delta Utilities, and the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO).

NEW ORLEANS - Following the adjournment of the Joint Committee meeting yesterday, a Committee of the Whole meeting was held, during which members discussed Orleans Parish School Board payments and the Emergency Contract for Sanitation Services.
