Council Vice President Moreno Statement on IV Waste Continuing Services in French Quarter and DDD

New Orleans, LA – The Mayor has now officially signed off to allow IV Waste to continue servicing the French Quarter and Downtown. I appreciate the Mayor taking this step to keep IV Waste until the end of the year. It was a tough battle to get to this point, but I’m proud of the Council for taking a stand on behalf of the people and to ensure public dollars are not wasted.

Council Vice President Moreno Statement on Resignation of Gilbert Montaño

New Orleans, LA – Chief Administrative Officer Gilbert Montaño operated with integrity and a commitment to the betterment of New Orleans. We had several collaborative budget seasons and he always made himself available to the City Council. His dedication to serving the city and its people was evident. I know that he has been put in difficult situations, but he always tried to do what was right and I hope his replacement will do the same.

New Orleans City Council, Tulane Reach Deal in Wisner Lawsuit

Seal of the City of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS -

The New Orleans City Council and Tulane University reached an amicable, out-of-court agreement in the Wisner litigation. The dispute arose from property owned by the City of New Orleans and held in a century-long trust that ended in 2014. Under the settlement, Tulane explicitly confirms that its interest in the property belongs to the City. The parties understood the importance of resolving the Wisner litigation to focus on the larger and common goal of redeveloping Charity Hospital.
