NEW ORLEANS, LA – At the regular meeting today, Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Council adopted an ordinance to authorize an amendment to the CEA between the City and the United States Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (USDOT), to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan. The Council also adopted a motion to designate the intersection of Treasure Street and Johnny Jackson, Jr. Boulevard as the “Nine Times Social Aid and Pleasure Club Honorary Intersection” in recognition of the community-based organization that is fundamental to the Ninth Ward.

Additionally, the Council adopted an ordinance to amend a section of the City Code regarding blight and public nuisance for both occupied and unoccupied properties, among other items on the meeting agenda.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – At the regular meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the City Council unanimously overruled Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s veto to stop the appropriation of $5 million in unencumbered funds to Louisiana State University (LSU). Additionally, the Council adopted an ordinance to amend a section of the City Code, which will require rest breaks for city employees to protect against hazards such as extreme heat. The Council also adopted Resolution R-25-463 in opposition to the Alabo Street Sunrise food grain terminal in the Lower Ninth Ward, among other items on the meeting agenda.

As part of the Special Orders of Business, the Council recognized the BRW New Orleans band for their impact on the New Orleans music scene and notable achievements, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for over 50 years in the music industry.

NEW ORLEANS – At its regular meeting on Thursday, August 21, the Council adopted an ordinance to waive certain temporary fees and requirements surrounding the NOLAKEYS 5 Annual Stop the Violence Youth Bike Ride and School Supply Giveaway that took place on August 2, 2025. The Council also authorized several amendments to ongoing Cooperative Endeavor Agreements (CEAs), one being between the City and Hyfi, LLC, as well as between the City and the Build America Bureau within the United States Department of Transportation. Additionally, the Council adopted a motion authorizing the Council President to execute the Settlement Agreement between the City Council, LSU Board of Supervisors, and Edwin Murray as a member of the Wisner Trust Management Board.

NEW ORLEANS – At its regular meeting Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Council unanimously overruled the mayor’s veto of ordinance No. 35,166 regarding an amendment to the Home Rule Charter. The Council also approved a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD), and the Lafitte Greenway Partnership (LGP) to maximize public recreational use and enjoyment of the Lafitte Greenway. The Council also adopted resolutions to hold several special elections on November 15, 2025, where voters will approve or disapprove several bond propositions.

NEW ORLEANS – During its regular meeting today, the Council approved several ordinances, including ordinance No. 35, 158, authorizing a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, and Algiers Development District to support public recreation through NORD’s aquatic programming. The Council also approved motion M-25-396 to hold a public hearing to establish the Fairground Overlay District, which limits permitted uses on the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots site in Gentilly. Several additional ordinances and resolutions of public interest were also approved during the meeting.
