NEW ORLEANS – At its regular meeting Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Council unanimously overruled the mayor’s veto of ordinance No. 35,166 regarding an amendment to the Home Rule Charter. The Council also approved a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORD), and the Lafitte Greenway Partnership (LGP) to maximize public recreational use and enjoyment of the Lafitte Greenway. The Council also adopted resolutions to hold several special elections on November 15, 2025, where voters will approve or disapprove several bond propositions.

NEW ORLEANS – During its regular meeting today, the Council approved several ordinances, including ordinance No. 35, 158, authorizing a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement between the City, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, and Algiers Development District to support public recreation through NORD’s aquatic programming. The Council also approved motion M-25-396 to hold a public hearing to establish the Fairground Overlay District, which limits permitted uses on the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots site in Gentilly. Several additional ordinances and resolutions of public interest were also approved during the meeting.

NEW ORLEANS – During its regular meeting yesterday, the New Orleans City Council unanimously overruled Mayor LaToya Cantrell's veto of the Charity Hospital redevelopment fund ordinance. The Council also approved a resolution for the issuance and sale of $90 million in Limited Tax Revenue Bonds, and a motion expressing the Council's intent to consider one or more resolutions calling for an election on November 15, 2025, regarding the issuance of General Obligation Bonds, among other items.

NEW ORLEANS – At its regular meeting yesterday, the New Orleans City Council adopted an Ordinance to expand Blue Krewe’s Bike Share program in New Orleans, extended the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the New Orleans Community Support Foundation, and adopted an Ordinance to increase the maximum penalties relating to graffiti. Additionally, the Council adopted a Motion to issue a request for qualified professional services regarding the valuation of the Wisner Trust. Council members adopted another Motion to establish official, permanent polling locations in Orleans Parish for future elections.

NEW ORLEANS - During yesterday's regular meeting, the New Orleans City Council passed measures pertaining to the awarding and management of City contracts, voted to require greater transparency in employee travel, set new requirements for the usage of City-issued credit cards, and updated its meeting proceedings to take up Special Orders of Business after the conclusion of the legislative agenda.
