Councilmember Green and NOLA Hub Partners Announce Continued Efforts to Fight Human Trafficking

NEW ORLEANS — District 'D' Councilmember Eugene Green and NOLA Hub member organizations, including Covenant House, the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, and Voices of the Victims of Crime, will hold a press conference to discuss continued efforts to eliminate human trafficking through the 2025 Carnival season on Wednesday, February 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the Orleans Parish Prison.

NEW ORLEANS - In partnership with the Parks & Parkways Department, the New Orleans City Council is reminding parade-goers of enforcement measures that will be implemented on the route. Although the Council granted discretion to the NOPD in regards to Mardi Gras enforcement, the law has not been suspended and is in full effect.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the November 2024 settlement between the City of New Orleans and the Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB), the state of the General Fund in the City’s Operating Budget, federal funding, and sudden alleged budget shortfalls.
