City Council to Receive Coronavirus Update During Thursday's Regular Meeting

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans City Council will receive an update on the coronavirus from the City's Director of Health Dr. Jennifer Avegno and her team at Thursday's meeting. While there are no reported cases at this time, state and local health leaders expect to eventually have cases in Louisiana. Council members will be briefed on preparations underway.

" Friday's cyber attack against New Orleans has affected over 4,000 computers and devices, which include those of the City Council.

City Council to Adopt 2019 Budget on Thursday, November 29

NEW ORLEANS - At its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, November 29th the New Orleans City Council will consider adoption of the City's 2019 Operating and Capital Budgets to conclude the annual budget review process. The process began when Mayor LaToya Cantrell appeared before the City Council on November 1st to present a proposed $698.1 million annual operating budget from the City's general fund.

City Council to Recognize Work of New Orleans Career Center at its Regular Meeting on November 1

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans City Council has committed to funding quality early childhood education to help set children up for success in elementary school. However, once they get to high school, New Orleans' youth need to graduate ready to continue onto post-secondary education and pursue quality careers. Orleans Parish has many unfilled entry- and middle-skill employment in high wage, high demand careers available to graduates. The newly-opened New Orleans Career Center (NOCC) is meeting this need by connecting industry, workforce, and education, and developing future leaders in high-growth industries.

Tomorrow's Regular City Council Meeting to Start at 10:40 a.m. Due to Threat of Severe Weather

NEW ORLEANS - Due to the threat of potentially severe weather in New Orleans, tomorrow's regular City Council meeting will begin at 10:40 a.m., approximately 40 minutes later than the originally scheduled start time of 10 a.m. The Broad Street Sports Entertainment and Dining Economic Development District meeting originally scheduled for 9:50 a.m. will now begin at 10:30 a.m. prior to the start of the regular meeting.
