City Council to Vote on Bicycle Safety Resolution

NEW ORLEANS - Despite advances in pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure throughout New Orleans, at least three people riding bikes were killed and seven others injured within a 10-day span between Feb. 20 and March 2 of 2019. Louisiana ranks #2 nationally in bicycling deaths. At the regular City Council meeting on Thursday, March 14, Council President Jason Williams will propose a resolution calling for immediate adoption of an updated and comprehensive Complete Streets Policy, increased enforcement and educational efforts for those sharing the roadways, and designation of sections of streets for a weekly car-free day. Resolution No. R-19-95 also calls for improvements to the most dangerous New Orleans intersections, and traffic infrastructure updates citywide.

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans City Council has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for accounting/auditing firms to advise the Council on water services financial analysis. The ideal firm should have a comprehensive understanding of existing accounting and collection practices, financial resources and budgetary status of the Sewerage & Water Board (S&WB), appropriate auditing/accounting improvements, and best practices that advance a public, transparent process and streamline S&WB's financial stability.

City Council to Hold Press Conference to Announce Launch of New Website on Monday, Nov. 5th

The New Orleans City Council will hold a press conference on Monday, Nov. 5th at 2 p.m. in the Council Chamber to announce the launch of its new website. Additionally, City Council Public Safety Analyst Jeff Asher will present the site's crime dashboard, a public-facing crime data system, to inform residents of how to utilize this new and powerful resource tool.

The new Council website marks a vast improvement, both aesthetically and functionally, to the current site that it will replace. The new site was designed and will be maintained by public servants, replacing the previous privately hosted platform which operates on an antiquated architecture more than ten years old.
