New Orleans City Council Responds to SWBNO’s Proposed Rate Increase

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans City Council has joined together to voice concerns on the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO)’s proposed rate hike. SWBNO officials discussed a possible rate increase with the City Council’s SWBNO Billing Advisory Committee on Wednesday. This proposal comes as the number of disputed bills has skyrocketed.

City Council Finalizes Construction Agreement Between City and Sewerage & Water Board for Dedicated Electric Substation

Today, the New Orleans City Council unanimously approved legislation finalizing an agreement between the City and Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) to construct the West Power Complex, a dedicated power source for SWBNO's drainage and water operations

New Orleans City Council Announces Redistricting Open House to Increase Public Engagement In Redistricting Process

In an effort to increase public engagement in the citywide Redistricting process, the New Orleans City Council has announced that it will extend the public comment period by implementing in-person meetings, as well as an Open House event for citizens.

The Redistricting Open House will take place on Monday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Following the Open House, there will be two listening sessions taking place at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

City Council Cancels Meetings This Week to Assist with Ida Response and Recovery Efforts

NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans City Council has announced the cancellation of its regular meeting this Thursday, September 9, to accommodate local response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Ida. Regular meetings are expected to resume beginning Thursday, September 23.
