Councilmember Nguyen Thanks Entergy New Orleans for Donation of 1,500 N95 Masks to New Orleans East Hospital
NEW ORLEANS - Healthcare workers are on the front line of this COVID-19 pandemic. They are selflessly caring for patients in need and putting themselves in harm's way to save lives. The healthcare workers at the New Orleans East Hospital are front line heroes that received the much needed personal protective equipment (PPE). Entergy New Orleans and Burns & McDonnell partnered to donate 1,500 N95 protective face masks to the hospital's healthcare workers.

"Today's donation made by Entergy is greatly appreciated, said Councilwoman Nguyen. "Protecting our healthcare workers is essential, and I want to encourage other companies to donate much-needed N95 masks to help protect the healthcare workers and help protect the people who are coming to the hospital as well."

"On April 27, 2020, the hospital will return to performing surgeries that were put on hold due to COVID-19. Currently, New Orleans Hospital uses 195 masks daily, and that number will go up to 250 masks per day when they return to doing regular surgical procedures," said Dr. Davis.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell has extended the "Stay At Home" order to prevent further spread of COVID-19 to May 16, 2020.

"I encourage everyone to support the defense line by adhering to the emergency orders and stay at home," Councilmember Nguyen continued.
