Veteran Housing Resources Available During COVID-19
NEW ORLEANS - The Veterans Administration has provided much needed additional funding to assist veterans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hope Center, Inc. through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program is providing support to qualified veterans who are behind on their rent and utility payments due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. If there are unhoused veterans in need of shelter, Hope Center can assist in securing permanent housing.
"This is such a great resource for veterans in need during this time, no veteran should have to live on the street," said Councilwoman Cyndi Nguyen.
For assistance, the following information will be requested:
  1. Copy of picture identification
  2. Copy of DD214 if available
  3. Copy of Social Security Card for all household members
  4. Proof of Income or Unemployment Status documents for all household members
  5. Contact Information for the Landlord or Leasing Agent in the case of rental assistance
Please note that veterans must meet certain eligibility guidelines that include income limit eligibility and veteran status eligibility. Qualified Veterans must reside in one of the following parishes: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, or Plaquemines Parishes of Louisiana.
