Councilmember Palmer and Partners Announce Changes to Drive-Thru Food Pantry Schedule

NEW ORLEANS - District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer announced today that the drive-thru food pantry in Algiers will be held every other Friday beginning this week. Due to the growing number of residents receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations and more people returning to work, Councilmember Palmer and Second Harvest Food Bank will reduce the number of weekly food pantries in District C. For the remainder of April, they will host only one food pantry in Algiers on Friday, April 23 at the Arthur Monday Center. This Friday, April 16, they will not host a food pantry in Algiers.

However, Councilmember Palmer and Culture Aid NOLA will continue to host their drive-thru food pantries on Saturdays at the Bell Artspace Campus in Treme. Since the pandemic, Councilmember Palmer organized food pantries with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Central Kitchen, and Culture Aid NOLA to distribute more than 602,000 pounds of food to families and individuals financially impacted by COVID-19. As a reminder, documentation is not required to receive a food pantry box, and walk-ups are welcomed.
