Councilmember Palmer and Partners Invite Residents to Participate in Bi-annual Algiers Clean Sweep Event

NEW ORLEANS - District “C” Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer, Algiers Economic Development Foundation (AEDF), and Crescent Towing are partnering to host "Algiers Clean Sweep" on Saturday, April 17.

Algiers Clean Sweep, a community-led initiative to clean-up, beautify, and reduce blight in Algiers, was created by Councilmember Palmer and AEDF in 2020. They organized their first "clean sweep" in November 2020, recycling 400 tires and 400 pounds of glass and clearing seven blighted and vacant lots.

Councilmember Palmer is encouraging residents and organizations to join the Algiers Clean Sweep efforts by volunteering on Saturday, April 17 from 9 AM to 12 PM. Volunteers should meet at the staging area located at Lambert Playground, 3800 MacArthur Blvd. Residents can also drop off old tires and glass for recycling at the staging site. Lunch will be provided by JUGS Krewe of NOMTOC.

Residents interested in volunteering can sign up here or contact Councilmember Palmer's office at (504) 658-1030.
