Councilmember Banks Urges Residents to Get Vaccinated

NEW ORLEANS - District “B” Councilmember Jay H. Banks has issued the following statement in response to the alarming increase in COVID-19 cases across the state of Louisiana:

"The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over, and I urge everyone to do all that they can to keep themselves and their loved ones safe. This virus is real and incredibly personal to me. Like so many New Orleanians, I have lost friends and acquaintances tragically to COVID-19. I strongly support the indoor mask mandates from both Mayor LaToya Cantrell and Governor John Bel Edwards as New Orleans works diligently to stop the spread and flatten the curve.

As cases increase with the emergence of the Delta variant, I urge everyone to wear a mask, wash their hands, social distance, and please get vaccinated as soon as possible. The vaccines are free, safe, and they may just save your life or the life of someone you love. If you need assistance getting vaccinated, please contact my office at (504) 658-1020, and we will connect you with a vaccine provider.”
