NEW ORLEANS - Council Vice President Helena Moreno has issued the following statement regarding today's announcement of Shaun Ferguson as New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent:

"I want to congratulate Superintendent Ferguson on his promotion. I pledge to work with him as I did with Chief Harrison to continue to improve and reform NOPD in order to promote public safety and effective service for our citizens. I am pleased to see the Mayor choose someone from Chief Harrison's leadership team because I know the former Chief's steadfast commitment to promoting leaders that will continue to cultivate a strong progressive vision for constitutional policing and a determined focus on community engagement."
