NEW ORLEANS, LA - During the Governmental Affairs Committee meeting on Thursday, January 15, 2026, the Committee held confirmation hearings for the consideration of several appointments to the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC).

The first hearing was for Hattie Collins for a position at the New Orleans Recreation Development Authority. Collins has also served as a Board Member for the YAYA Arts Center and Audubon Institute. The Committee recommended approval to the full Council.

Next, the Committee held its hearing for Jamar McKneely. McKneely expressed his desire to ensure students and the New Orleans community as a whole have great facilities and programming at NORD. Following his testimony, the Committee recommended approval of McKneely’s appointment to the full Council.

Finally, the Committee held its hearing for Kyle Walker. Walker discussed her desire to help NORD deliver high-quality programming to every facility in New Orleans. Walker currently serves as the Hollygrove-Dixon Neighborhood Association Treasurer and Secretary and as a member of the New Orleans School Facility Finance Foundation Board. After receiving her testimony, the Committee recommended approval of McKneely’s appointment to the full Council.
