District D, Eugene J. Green
NEW ORLEANS — District D Councilman Eugene J. Green, Jr. commends the swift cleanup of illegally dumped tires behind the post office located at 5919 Chef Menteur Hwy, specifically at 5919 Reel Street. The area had been severely impacted by the illegal dumping of tires, obstructing access and disrupting the operations of federal postal workers.
Councilman Green emphasized the broader consequences of such acts:
“Illegal dumping has an incredibly negative impact on our city and its communities. In this particular case, it interfered with federal workers’ ability to carry out their responsibilities — delaying the essential task of getting mail to our citizens said Councilman Green.”
Given the disruption of federal services and obstruction of federal property, Councilman Green is formally calling for a federal investigation into the matter.
“We must hold accountable those who are illegally dumping waste and blocking critical federal infrastructure. I urge federal authorities to investigate this incident and ensure such obstruction does not happen again.”
Councilman Green remains committed to ensuring that New Orleans neighborhoods remain clean, safe, and respected spaces for both residents and workers.
