City Council to Discuss New Sewerage & Water Board Governing Structure, Board Composition, and Related Measures

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The New Orleans City Council will discuss a proposed ordinance establishing a new governing structure for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans at a joint committee meeting Thursday, July 30.

The proposed ordinance outlines policy changes for SWBNO’s governance, including composition and role of the board of directors and regulation by the City Council. This legislation will serve as a regulatory framework as the Council prepares to take oversight and budget control of the public utility on August 1. The Council will discuss other related matters at the meeting.
