NEW ORLEANS - Join Council President Helena Moreno and her colleagues on the New Orleans City Council for a press event on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 9 a.m. calling attention to National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend.
In solidarity with Moms Demand Action, Students Demand Action and Everytown, cities and communities across the nation are planning orange-wearing events for National Gun Violence Awareness Weekend, June 7 through June 9. On average, 100 people are killed each day by gun violence here in America, and in New Orleans, 454 people were shot in 2018 alone. Show your support by wearing orange in solidarity with cities and communities across the nation to end gun violence.
