NEW ORLEANS - Council President Helena Moreno has issued the following statement regarding news reports of ICE raids targeting migrant families and the potential impact on the City of New Orleans:

"I'm very concerned about reports of planned ICE raids targeting immigrant families in New Orleans this weekend. This is a such a cruel approach. So much so that according to the Washington Post, the US Department of Homeland Security has warned the White House against pursuing these raids due to risk of separating more children from their parents. I'm working with the ACLU of Louisiana to ensure that immigrant families know their rights and that they are aware of advocacy groups ready to assist."
