Smart Cities Committee Chair Jason Williams Announces New COVID-19 Tracking Dashboard

Smart Cities Committee Chair Jason Williams Announces New COVID-19 Tracking Dashboard
NEW ORLEANS - Council Vice President and Smart and Sustainable Cities Committee Chair Jason Williams has announced a new dashboard for tracking COVID-19 cases in Louisiana and Orleans Parish.

"We created this new committee to find ways to use technology and data to enhance the lives of and support the people of New Orleans. Keeping people up-to-date as we face a global pandemic locally is fulfilling that commitment," said Councilmember Williams.

The newly-launched dashboard, updated twice daily using Department of Health data, provides information regarding the number of cases and rate of spread.

Williams continued, "Complete transparency will be critical throughout the duration of this pandemic. It's important that all residents have access to accurate, up-to-date data that shows us where we stand in this battle with the coronavirus. This tool will help us identify trends over time as we work to address this crisis. The dashboard is public-facing, but we will also send the local media updated reports regularly so they can help us reach as many people as possible with this information. I anxiously look forward to the date when I check this dashboard and see our numbers trending downward."

The dashboard was developed by City Council Public Safety Consultants Jeff Asher and Ben Horwitz, and can be accessed on the Council's website at council.nola.gov/home, as well as NOLA Ready's at ready.nola.gov.
