District A, District At-Large 1, District At-Large 2, Jean-Paul "JP" Morrell, Matthew Willard, Aimee McCarron
NEW ORLEANS, LA — Tuesday, May 12 | New Orleans City Councilmembers Aimee McCarron, JP Morrell, and Matthew Willard joined together to author a letter in support of Senate Bill 407, authored by Senator Ed Price.
Senate Bill 407, which will be considered at the Senate and Governmental Affairs Committee today, establishes congressional maps that are reflective of our communities and ensures every voter has a meaningful voice in our democracy. You can read the full letter at this link.
“Fair maps are fundamental to public trust in government,” said District A Councilmember Aimee McCarron. “Louisiana citizens, including my residents in District A in New Orleans, deserve maps that reflect their neighborhoods. At a time when our state is working to build a strong future, we need leadership that brings people together, and not maps that leave communities feeling divided or overlooked.”
“Senator Price’s SB 407 is the much-needed viable path forward for ensuring fair maps and equal representation in Louisiana. We know that government works best when citizens trust their representatives and feel empowered to engage with them, said Council President JP Morrell. I strongly urge my former colleagues in Baton Rouge to advance SB 407 out of committee and protect the voice of the people, not tarnish it.”
