City Council Extends Council Cares $400 Utility Assistance Program Through End of Year

NEW ORLEANS - Today, the New Orleans City Council extended the “City Council Cares” (CCC) program until the end of the year. The CCC program, authorized by the Council this past summer, provides $400 of direct utility assistance payments for Entergy New Orleans (ENO) customers who faced wage losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 7,700 customers have taken advantage of the program, with more than $3m already authorized for payment.

“While the economy continues to suffer from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CCC has been providing more than $3m in direct credits to Entergy New Orleans customers struggling with their bills,” said Council Utilities Chair Helena Moreno. “Still, there is more work to do. To help more people, we’ve extended the program through the end of the year. We encourage anyone needing assistance with their power bills to apply immediately.”

The CCC provides $400 in direct bill credits to ENO customers. It is open to Entergy New Orleans residential customers who have an active Entergy New Orleans electric or electric and gas combination account. Please visit www.entergyneworleans.com/citycouncilcares, text CCC to 69516, call 504-493-7004, or visit the New Orleans walk-in ENO customer care centers to apply for the program.
