NEW ORLEANS- In partnership with the City’s Department of Code Enforcement and Algiers Economic Development Foundation, District “C” Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will clear seven blighted and vacant lots as part of the Algiers Clean Sweep initiative, a new community-led effort to clean-up Algiers.
Algiers Clean Sweep will take place on Saturday, November 14, from 9 AM to 3 PM. However, crews will begin clearing the following seven sites today, Thursday, November 12:
- The entire block of Bringier Street, from Odeon to Tita
- 3727 Pittari Place
- 3755 Pittari Place
- 2800 Sullen Place
- 2927 Sullen Place
- 2933 Sullen Place
- 3550 Wall Boulevard
As part of Algiers Clean Sweep, the NOLA Tree Project will give away one tree per household at the staging site located at 2501 Wall Boulevard while supplies last. Resident must show proof of residence with a picture ID. Residents can drop off old tires and glass for recycling at the staging site. The staging site will accept paper for shredding and food items for composting as well. Lunch will be provided by JUGS Krewe of NOMTOC.
Councilmember Palmer is encouraging Algiers residents to join the Algiers Clean Sweep efforts by volunteering for two or three hours this Saturday, anytime between 9 AM to 3 PM. Sign up to volunteer here.
