Media Advisory: Agenda Highlights for Regular Council Meeting on September 20, 2018

What: Among the items to be heard at tomorrow's regular meeting of the City Council:

  • The Council will consider an ordinance to strengthen opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in professional services contracts awarded by the Council.
  • The Council will consider a motion initiating a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to obtain professional consulting services to advise the Council on matters pertaining to the Sewerage and Water Board (S&WB).
  • The Council will receive a special anti-gun violence presentation from InspireNOLA students and hold a rally on the front steps of City Hall.
  • The Council will consider a resolution expressing unequivocal support of the First Amendment stating all booster clubs should be allowed to purchase, utilize and wear their desired brand of clothing while at any New Orleans facility.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to amend the City Code relative to sanitation roll carts to clarify which times they may be placed on curbs for trash removal.
  • The Council will consider an ordinance to prevent the depositing of harmful materials into city drainage systems.
  • Additionally, the Council will receive a special presentation from Tremé Fall Fest organizers and the festival's 2018 honoree, Mrs. Leah Chase.
  • Please note: Cal. No. 32,345 regarding 2005 North Broad Street is being deferred.
