Councilmember Moreno Announces Changes to Donations of Toiletry Items and Clothes for Hurricane Laura Victims

NEW ORLEANS - Due to the overwhelming response over the past few days of donations of toiletry and other essential items to United Way of SELA, the non-profit has hit capacity to collect items. Anyone who would like to donate these items for Hurricane Laura victims can still do so at Second Harvest Food Bank.

The Junior League of New Orleans will continue to take diapers for children and adults, baby formula and feminine hygiene products until Friday, but they have hit capacity to accept any more donations of clothing.

"I am so proud of the people of this city. You have responded with so much love and support for Hurricane Laura victims. We have roughly ten-thousand evacuees sheltering in New Orleans, and I have seen first hand how the donated items have brought comfort to so many who are suffering," said Council Vice President Helena Moreno.

Anyone interested in dropping off toiletry items such as soap, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, cotton swabs and brushes to Second Harvest can do so Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM - 4 PM at 700 Edwards Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70123.

Diapers for children and adults, baby formula and feminine hygiene products can be dropped off at the Junior League of New Orleans until Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM at 4319 Carondelet, New Orleans, LA 70115.
