District D, Eugene J. Green
NEW ORLEANS, LA — District D Councilmember Eugene Green joins the New Orleans Police Department, community partners, and advocates in commemorating lives lost to violence and uplifting survivors through two important events of remembrance and resilience.
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the New Orleans Police Department’s Victim Witness Assistance Unit will host the Inaugural National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims. Beginning at the NOPD 5th District Station and concluding at Bunny Friend Park, the Remembrance Walk will take place between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Families, friends, neighbors, and supporters will come together to honor loved ones lost to homicide and show solidarity with survivors, reflecting our city’s collective commitment to healing and justice.
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, Councilman Green encourages residents to participate in Break the Cycle Revival, a Domestic Violence Awareness Event, held on the second floor at 2800 Perdido Street from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The program will include powerful testimonies of survival, live spoken word performances, community resources, and integrated art therapy. Attendees are asked to wear purple in support of Domestic Violence Awareness.
“In remembrance, we honor the lives tragically taken by violence and extend strength to families and survivors whose resilience inspires us," said Councilman Green. These events remind us that together, we can rise above pain and trauma, heal our communities, and break destructive cycles. I encourage all residents to stand united in remembrance and in hope, as we work toward a safer, stronger City.
