NEW ORLEANS, LA — Councilmember Freddie King III joined Mayor Helena Moreno, Council President JP Morrell, InspireNOLA Charter Schools CEO Jamar McKneely, Algiers Charter CEO Dr. Tammi Griffin-Major, and Community members for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and press conference celebrating the revitalization of Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. Stadium.

Today's press conference and ribbon-cutting showcased the newly renovated stadium ahead of the first football game on the revitalized field this Friday, marking an exciting return of athletic competition to the historic facility.

The revitalization initiative restored the stadium’s playing field for the young people of New Orleans, replacing hazardous field conditions with a safe, modern, state-of-the-art turf surface. 

“This is about showing what can be done when you have public partnerships and private partnerships working together toward one goal—and that’s to enrich our city,” said Councilmember Freddie King III. “This is not about me. It’s not about the mayor, Inspire, or any one individual or organization. It’s about the children of New Orleans, the children of Algiers. They deserve a safe, quality place where they can compete, grow, and thrive.”

With the renovated field now ready for play, Friday’s football game will mark a new chapter for Morris F.X. Jeff Sr. Stadium and the students, schools, families, and community members who will benefit from the revitalized facility for years to come.
