NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the New Orleans City Council convened for a Special Council Meeting to receive the 2027 Executive Budget Address. During the meeting, Mayor Helena Moreno presented the proposed 2027 City Budget and outlined the administration’s fiscal priorities and the steps ahead as the administration and Council move through the budget process.

In her closing remarks, Mayor Moreno reflected on the City’s financial position, stating, “We have reduced the size and cost of government, rebuilt reserves, protected core services, and proposed a balanced 2027 budget. We are lean, and the choices are difficult, but New Orleans is back above water and positioned to move forward.”

The Council also received a presentation from representatives of the Chief Administrative Office detailing the proposed 2027 City Budget.

The Council also advised attendees that, beginning September 29, members of the public who wish to comment on matters related to the proposed budget may attend the Proposed Budget Hearings scheduled throughout the coming weeks and provide public comment during the designated periods.
