Police Consent Decree
The City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Police Department and the United States Department of Justice entered into a Consent Decree in July 2012. According to NOPD, the “Consent Decree is a broad, extensive blueprint for positive change, and it encompasses sweeping, department-wide reforms.” This dashboard measures NOPD’s performance in three subcategories related to the Consent Decree: Stop and Search, Misconduct Complaints, and Use of Force. Each subcategory on the dashboard pulls data directly from the publicly available data section of the City of New Orleans website. Datasets are updated once a day and may differ slightly from NOPD’s formally reported figures.
