Arrest Dashboard

Arrest Dashboard

This dashboard provides information on arrests in New Orleans broken down by agency, most serious charge, demographics, and geographic information. Does not include re-arrests at the Orleans Justice Center so numbers will not match directly the arrest figures in the Jail Dashboard.

Bond Paid Dashboard

Bond Paid

This dashboard tracks the price of bonds that were set for each charge where bond was made. Bails that have been set by a judge but not paid are not included. Each bond represents one charge, and a single person might pay for multiple charges. The dashboard provides information on bonds paid this year, the average price set over 12 months, and the percentage of bonds that are under $1,000 over 12 months. A person who is charged with a crime and pays bail should not be considered guilty of that crime.

Community Safety Dashboard

Community Safety

This dashboard provides insight into issues of public safety that are generally non-criminal in nature using publicly available data from the City of New Orleans. The buttons below allow a user to explore all types of incidents occurring around an address or perform more in-depth looks at 311, 911, traffic accidents, or catch basin cleaning data.

Crime Dashboard

Crime

This dashboard tracks major crime incidents as reported in NOPD’s Calls for Service database. Each incident represents one Call for Service of a major crime as defined by the FBI in the Uniform Crime Report. Incidents deemed "unfounded" in NOPD's Electronic Police Reports have been removed. These data points approximate but will not exactly match NOPD's formal crime statistics which are released quarterly. Note: incidents do not equal victims, so a double murder – for example – will count as one homicide incident.

Historical Murder dashboard

Historical Murder

This dashboard tracks information on murders in the current year and provides data on murder victims in New Orleans since 1992. Data on historical murders comes from the FBI's Supplementary Homicide Report while information on murders from 2021 to present have been provided by NOPD. This dashboard is being published in partnership with NOPD.

Jail Population Datshboard

Jail Population

This dashboard tracks individuals in custody of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. Individuals in OPSO custody are shown by race/gender, age, whether or not they have been sentenced for this offense, and the most serious arrest charge for each individual. In addition this dashboard shows the daily count of inmates in OPSO custody since 2010, the lowest number of individuals in custody recorded each year, and a rolling count of the number of individuals arrested in Orleans Parish over 365 days since 2010. All data is provided courtesy of OPSO and represents information as reported by OPSO at the time of the snapshot.

Police Consent Decree Dashboard

Police Consent Decree

The City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Police Department and the United States Department of Justice entered into a Consent Decree in July 2012. According to NOPD, the “Consent Decree is a broad, extensive blueprint for positive change, and it encompasses sweeping, department-wide reforms.” This dashboard measures NOPD’s performance in three subcategories related to the Consent Decree: Stop and Search, Misconduct Complaints, and Use of Force.  Each subcategory on the dashboard pulls data directly from the publicly available data section of the City of New Orleans website. Datasets are updated once a day and may differ slightly from NOPD’s formally reported figures.

Commissioned officers are full-time officers and do not include recruits and reserve officers. NOPD applications per month data comes from the New Orleans Civil Service and is updated monthly.
