Councilmember Jared Brossett to Join Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and Partners to Announce "Can You See Me Now?" Bicycle & Safety Initiative

NEW ORLEANS - District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett will join the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) and Le Sanctuary, Inc. for a diversity forum announcing the new "Can You See Me Now?" initiative, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the Audubon Nature Center in New Orleans. LHSC Executive Director Lisa Freeman will lead the forum alongside local and state public safety officials who have postured themselves to address the growing concern of increasing bike and pedestrian injuries and fatalities. This event will provide a platform for law enforcement officials, influencers, and concerned citizens to work collaboratively in an effort to improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians as well as promote better behaviors on the road.

Councilmember Jared Brossett Urges Mayor Cantrell to Leverage Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) Revenues

NEW ORLEANS - In his 2020 budget priorities letter, District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett provided the Cantrell Administration with a proposal to leverage Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) of 2006 revenues to expedite the construction of hurricane protection and coastal restoration projects including related drainage projects. He also encouraged the Administration to implement 2018 City of New Orleans Disparity Study, which he has championed since 2015, and to create a workforce development and training program for the City's middle-aged and senior population.
