NEW ORLEANS - Councilmember Jared C. Brossett and colleagues will receive a comprehensive update on the COVID-19 pandemic during the next City Council Emergency Preparedness and Cybersecurity Special Committee meeting on March 2 at 1 PM.

Col. Terry Ebbert, USMC Ret., Director of Public Safety and Homeland Security, and the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security will share information about how the City addresses special events during COVID-19. Additionally, he will discuss plans for a citywide mass vaccination program and provide any other relevant information related to the City’s COVID-19 response.

“I am thrilled to hear that the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center will serve as a mass vaccination site," said Councilmember Brossett. “As we are faced with the continued and sustained threat of COVID-19, it is essential that the City’s emergency preparedness efforts be communicated to all stakeholders. I am calling this meeting to ensure that we are all well-educated on how New Orleans is responding to the most serious public health crisis of our generation.”

Councilmember Brossett founded the Emergency Preparedness and Cybersecurity Special Committee to provide much-needed transparency around the City’s emergency response efforts. Next month’s meeting delivers on this by providing an opportunity for the City’s Homeland Security personnel to speak directly with the Council and the public on its efforts to protect and save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
