NEW ORLEANS - Today, the Council completed votes to deny the final four remaining tax exemptions requested by Folgers. Last month, the Council voted to deny two others, meaning all six requested are now rejected. The Orleans Parish School Board also voted against all six applications last month.
"We said from the beginning that our people need tax fairness more than ever. The fiscal crisis borne by the pandemic means every dollar counts. These exemptions simply do not meet the fair standards we set to create good jobs for our people. I’m pleased to see this unanimous vote by the Council. It signifies that we stand with the people of New Orleans who need City services more than ever and can’t bear further burdens created by tax dollar giveaways like these," said Council President Helena Moreno.
