Chair Helena Moreno Holds Utilities Committee Meeting on Entergy New Orleans Reliability Concerns

NEW ORLEANS - Tomorrow, Utility, Cable, Telecommunications and Technology (UCTT) Committee Chair Helena Moreno will hold a meeting focused on answers to Entergy New Orleans' (ENO's) ongoing distribution system reliability issues.

Since the summer of 2017, the Council has asked, first by letter request, and then by procedural mandate, for a detailed remediation plan to address the unacceptable level of power outages and service disruptions due to ENO equipment failures in the company's service area. The order requires details regarding project budgets, schedules, and strategies to address these longstanding issues. ENO first attempted to address these issues last fall, but the response was graded as unacceptable by the Council's expert analysts.

"After months of questions, letters, and requests for detailed information on ENO's distribution system, the public deserves answers now," said Chair Moreno. "We expect to hear from ENO on how this second attempt at a remediation plan meets the public's needs and finally ensures reliable electric service for all New Orleanians."

ENO officials will present their latest response tomorrow, to which the Council's expert advisors and all public intervenors will subsequently provide comment on in the coming months. A final determination related to whether the latest remediation plan would create a reliable system for the ratepayers of New Orleans will be given by the fall.
