NEW ORLEANS - District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett and Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans have partnered to launch a public awareness campaign aimed at preventing car break-ins and theft throughout the city. The campaign will raise awareness surrounding vehicle break-ins, urging citizens to lock their vehicles and conceal items left inside. Councilmember Brossett and Crimestoppers have "Lock It or Lose It" yard signs available for residents, associations and organizations interested in participating. Additionally, Crimestoppers will provide postcards, key chains, and window decals as a reminder to "Lock It or Lose It."

"My Office has received a significant increase in the amount of calls from concerned residents regarding the increase in car break-ins, and over 70 percent of those occurred in unlocked vehicles," said Councilmember Brossett. "As a City Councilmember, the safety of my constituents and all New Orleans residents is my utmost priority. I encourage everyone to join us by participating in this campaign to help prevent further thefts and enhance security in your neighborhood."

Crimestoppers is a non-profit, civilian organization that helps local residents keep their communities safer by assisting law enforcement to apprehend criminals. The organization works with law enforcement to encourage tips that help lead to arrests and the resolution of crimes.

"Crimestoppers takes a comprehensive approach to making our communities safer by proactively implementing educational and crime prevention programs with schools, neighborhood associations, civic leaders, and churches to stand united against crime," said Darlene Cusanza, President & CEO of Crimestoppers Greater New Orleans. "We're so grateful to have an ally in Councilmember Brossett and to continue this fight together to ensure all those who live in New Orleans feel safe with this 'Lock It or Lose It' Campaign."
