New Orleans Redevelopment Authority Accepting Applications for New Orleans Tricentennial Lots To Celebrate Program

"The activation of these vacant properties through Lots to Celebrate will not only enhance our neighborhoods but also engage the people of New Orleans by instilling in them a sense of pride for their surrounding communities."

NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) is accepting applications through August 17, 2018, for its New Orleans Tricentennial: Lots To Celebrate initiative. The program supports the creation and implementation of temporary public art and community event projects sited on NORA-owned vacant lots throughout Orleans Parish.

NORA currently owns a number of vacant lots throughout the New Orleans, which were acquired over the years through the State of Louisiana Road Home Program, expropriation or other means. The vacant NORA lots available for temporary use through the program are located in the Lower Ninth Ward, Hoffman Triangle, 7th Ward, Hollygrove, Gentilly, New Orleans East, and other locations.

"The activation of these vacant properties through Lots to Celebrate will not only enhance our neighborhoods but also engage the people of New Orleans by instilling in them a sense of pride for their surrounding communities," said District "D" Councilmember Jared Brossett.

Lots to Celebrate project timelines can range from one day to several months and can include, but are not limited to site-specific art installations, community-focused events, and performing arts exhibitions. Interested applicants with projects that actively engage residents and community members in the design and planning and incorporate the celebratory themes of community pride and the city's 300th anniversary are encouraged to apply electronically at noraworks.org/applications.

Prospective respondents are encouraged to schedule a pre-application meeting with Lots to Celebrate Project Manager Kevin Gray at kdgray@nola.gov or (504) 658-4412, during which time NORA staff will discuss the application process and answer questions. The deadline for scheduling a pre-application meeting is August 10, 2018.
