Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen Urges Residents to Take Necessary Measures to Aid First Responders in Times of Emergency

NEW ORLEANS - Councilmember Cyndi Nguyen is encouraging District "E" residents assist first responders in times of emergency. It has been brought to the attention of the District "E" staff that there are currently a large number of nonexistent, indecipherable or incorrect house signs around New Orleans East. This is a very serious issue, as it impedes New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) and emergency personnel from locating residents in need in a timely manner.

In order to enhance public safety for all throughout the district, Councilmember Nguyen is urging residents to ensure their house numbers are clear and visible from curbsides or beginning of driveways and recommends they be a minimum of 4" high and contrasting color from your structure. Residents with any questions or in need of more information may call the Building Inspection Office at 565-6130 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The Orleans Parish Communication District (OCPD) will be discussing this issue and more during the upcoming Night Out Against Crime events taking place throughout the city on Tuesday, Oct. 16th. To learn more, visit www.nola.gov/nopd/night-out.
