Councilmember Brossett Brings Two Disaster Relief Funding Ordinances to the Council that Pass Unanimously

In today’s emergency meeting, the Council gathered to pass disaster relief funding to be reimbursed by FEMA to begin the recovery process.

NEW ORLEANS - Today, District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett brought ordinances 33,331 and 33,332 for a vote at the Council’s emergency meeting to discuss Hurricane Ida recovery. The measures to fund disaster relief that will be reimbursed by FEMA were passed unanimously.

“Today, we took a big leap in our recovery efforts," Councilmember Brossett said. "The Council unanimously passed funding specifically earmarked for disaster recovery. We have a long road ahead, but now we have a path forward. Hurricane Ida devastated our power grid, destroyed some of our most precious landmarks, and scattered debris around our city, but a hurricane cannot change who we are. It’s time to rebuild. I know that we will continue to care for each other until we are all back on our feet.”
