Councilmember Jared Brossett Joins Local Advocates for Women United Pay Equity Panel

NEW ORLEANS - District "D" Councilmember Jared Brossett served as a panelist at last week's Women United Pay Equity discussion hosted by the United Way of Southeast Louisiana at Ralph's on the Park. Councilmember Brossett joined fellow advocates Terrell Boynton, Director & General Manager of the New Orleans Digital Transformation Center at DXC Technology; Ava Dejoie, Secretary of the Louisiana Workforce Commission; and Joseph Exnicios, Senior Executive Vice President and President of Hancock Whitney, to discuss his ongoing commitment to ending the gender pay gap in Louisiana, which remains the worst in the country.

Councilmember Jared Brossett to Celebrate Completion of Dillard University Hazard Mitigation Project at Upcoming Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

NEW ORLEANS - District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett will join Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Dillard University administrators; City, State and Federal officials and community partners to celebrate the completion of large-scale drainage improvements on Dillard's campus, funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place today at 3 p.m. near the flagpole located at the center of Dillard's campus (2601 Gentilly Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122).

New Orleans City Council Adopts 2019 City Budget with Significant Funding for New Initiatives

NEW ORLEANS - At today's regular meeting, the City Council adopted the City's 2019 Operating and Capital Budgets concluding the annual budget review process and establishing spending levels for the coming fiscal year. Prior to the meeting, the City held a Revenue Estimating Conference to update the 2019 revenue forecast and capture newly identified sources of revenue that would allow the City to fund the proposed amendments.

City Council to Adopt 2019 Budget on Thursday, November 29

NEW ORLEANS - At its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, November 29th the New Orleans City Council will consider adoption of the City's 2019 Operating and Capital Budgets to conclude the annual budget review process. The process began when Mayor LaToya Cantrell appeared before the City Council on November 1st to present a proposed $698.1 million annual operating budget from the City's general fund.

Dillard University to Hold 12th Annual Housing, Health and Community Resources Fair in District "D"

NEW ORLEANS - The 12th Annual Housing, Health and Community Resources Fair will take place on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Professionals Schools Building on Dillard University's campus. The event is free to attend and will feature more than 70 exhibitors representing health care service, construction, finance, insurance, job training and employment agencies, technology services, and more.
