Councilmember Helena Moreno Announces $22M of Direct Entergy Bill Assistance for New Orleanians Facing Job Loss

NEW ORLEANS - Today, Council Utilities Chair Helena Moreno announced she and her colleagues will be directing Entergy New Orleans to provide $22M of direct bill assistance to residential customers. The City Council Cares (CCC) program would provide New Orleanians rendered unemployed by the COVID-19 pandemic eligible to receive a total of $400 of direct Entergy bill credits, at a maximum of $100 per month for four months. Even more, all current late fees would be waived in concert with the application of the bill credits.

Councilmember Helena Moreno Seeks to Extend Moratorium on Entergy Shut-offs through July 1

NEW ORLEANS - Tomorrow, the New Orleans City Council will consider a resolution to suspend utility electric and gas shut-offs through July 1. The resolution comes after Entergy New Orleans had previously agreed to voluntary service shut-off moratoriums since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW ORLEANS - Today, Councilmembers Helena Moreno and Jason Williams strongly encouraged residents of New Orleans to sign up at TestNOLA.org to participate in a COVID-19 prevalence study led by Ochsner Health. This free study will be essential for guiding our community through the pandemic by helping officials identify hot spots; giving public health authorities insight into allocating resources and giving our friends and families more information about how to keep our neighborhoods healthy and safe.

At-Large Councilmembers Moreno and Williams Launch Campaign to Promote and Encourage COVID-19 Testing

NEW ORLEANS - Councilmembers Helena Moreno and Jason Williams are getting tested for COVID-19 on camera to show testing is safe, easy, free and coming to your neighborhood. 


Both went on camera to get a test to ease the nerves of those who are hesitant and to promote neighborhood testing sites all over the city. This is just part of their Crush The Curve New Orleans campaign to encourage access to COVID-19 testing for everyone in the city.
