UD-16-02: New Orleans Power Station, Cost Recovery, And Timely Relief

Council Docket UD-16-02, established via Resolution R-16-332, considered matters related to the approval of Entergy New Orleans (“ENO”) to construct a New Orleans power station (“NOPS”), request for cost recovery, and timely relief, as well as established a period of intervention and procedural requirements.   Upon the completion of extensive discovery, public meetings, and an evidentiary hearing, the Council moved to approve ENO’s application to construct a power plant at the Michoud site in eastern New Orleans finding that the NOPS RICE alternative serves the public convenience and necessity and is in the public interest.  The Council approved ENO’s application on March 8, 2018 via Resolution R-18-65. 

The cost recovery of the NOPS project will be evaluated during the Council’s consideration of ENO’s application for a change in electric and gas rates (“Combined Rate Case”- UD-18-07).
