City Council Revises Public Comment Cards

In advance of Thursday's regularly scheduled City Council Meeting, public comment cards have been revised to request reflection of a speaker receiving compensation for their testimony. Cards for both public comment on agenda items and zoning matters have been updated.

First of all, let me just say that I’m thrilled to be back and serving District C. Since taking office three weeks ago, I have hit the ground running and working to fulfill several of my campaign promises. I tackled the city’s short-term rental program at the first regularly scheduled council meeting. My approved motions are the first step toward changing how we issue permits and who can receive them. In addition, the City Planning Commission will be required to include community feedback by hosting a public hearing as part of the process to revamp the program.

New Orleans City Council to Hold Press Conference for National Gun Violence Awareness Day

City Council President Jason Williams and other New Orleans City Councilmembers will hold a press event on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. on the Wear Orange initiative calling attention to National Gun Violence Awareness Day (NGVAD). NGVAD 2018 will take place on Friday, June 1, followed by Wear Orange Weekend to show solidarity with cities and communities across the nation to end gun violence.

Council Utility Chair Conveys Demand for Documents in Connection with Independent Investigation of Entergy Allegations

Newly-named Utility Committee Chair and Council Vice-President Helena Moreno formally advised Entergy New Orleans (ENO) via letter of the deadline to produce documents and materials in relation to the independent investigation of ENO's actions during the New Orleans Power Station (NOPS) process, which was unanimously approved at the meeting on May 24.

Councilmember-At-Large Helena Moreno Directs Entergy To Produce All Documents and Materials Related to Paid Actors

Today, the New Orleans City Council passed Councilmember-At-Large Helena Moreno's motions (M-18-196 and M-18-197) to begin a formal Council Investigation of Entergy New Orleans (ENO) and to retain an independent investigator regarding the use of paid actors during the NOPS public comment process over the past year.
