Councilmember Palmer and Partners to Host Two Drive-up Food Pantries This Week

 

NEW ORLEANS- District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Central Kitchen and Culture Aid Nola will host two food pantries  this week for families and individuals impacted by COVID-19. There are two locations, the Arthur Monday Center on the Westbank in Algiers (Friday, August 7) and the Mahalia Jackson Theatre (Saturday, August 8) on Basin Street. Since March, the food pantries have provided more than 348,780 pounds of food and 76,000 individual meals to residents across the city.

Councilmember Palmer Continues Weekly Food Pantries and Announces New Location on Saturdays

NEW ORLEANS - In continued partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, World Central Kitchen and Culture Aid Nola, District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will host food pantries for families and individuals impacted by COVID-19 every Friday and Saturday through the month of July. There will be two locations, the Arthur Monday Center on the Westbank in Algiers on Fridays and a new location on the Eastbank at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre on Saturdays.

NEW ORLEANS - Today, the City Council Street Renaming Commission, an advisory committee created to initiate a public engagement process to consider renaming certain streets, parks, and public places in New Orleans that honor white supremacists, held their first meeting. The Council approved the motion authored by Councilmembers Kristin Gisleson Palmer and Jay H. Banks to establish the Commission during a regular meeting on June 18.

District C Drive-Thru Food Pantries Cancelled This Week Due to Fourth of July Holiday

NEW ORLEANS - Due to the closure of Second Harvest Food Bank in observance of the Fourth of July holiday, District "C" Councilmember Kristin Gisleson Palmer will not host food pantries this week. Food pantries scheduled in District C for Friday, July 3, at Arthur Monday Center and Saturday, July 4 at Holy Angels, are cancelled this week. Both food pantries will resume the following week.
